Black Magic Woman

Eye of Newt and Tongue of Cow....resurrect this blog right now!

Poof!

Apparently, my balancing skills need balancing.

I came across a quote the other day which read, "Begin doing what you want to do now.  We are not living an eternity."

Here's to balance and making time for our passions.

Stay tuned...we'll be back after this short commercial break.

Sitting on the Dock of the Bay

Technically, June 21st is the official first day of summer. But for those of you who live in Oklahoma, you know summer starts in May. That means lake season is officially here! Grab your suit and shades and let's hit the dock.

I don't know what I would do without the lake. It melts my stress like butter on toast. There is just something about cruising on the water, wind in your hair, sun on your face, sand in your toes, and babes playing on the beach. Life is just good.

Speaking of life and low stress, my husband and I just celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary. And upon evaluation of the first leg of our marriage, we....celebrated our accomplishment....agreed to keep loving and respecting one another...and to rock it out for as long as we both shall live.

If you don't believe me, just check Facebook for the Snoop Dogg concert photos.

We popped it like it's hot.

Can't Touch This!

Well, I finished the marathon. Unfortunately, I don't have a lot to say about it. My official chip time was 5:17. I was a little disappointed, but I tried to just be happy I made it.

Does this mean I'll run another marathon for better time? Never say never! ...which were the exact words out of my mouth immediately following the race. It was painful and long; however, there is also this sick, twisted part of me that wants to do it again and do it better. I mean, Darius from the Biggest Loser, smoked it in 4:02! He's a fellow Ardmorite....go Darius!

Girl Sleeping on Couch

This was me post race. I was too nauceous to eat my brunch, but I did manage a couple of drinks and fell asleep in the car on the way home. Bryan asked as we walked in the door if I wanted to take a shower. To which I quickly replied, "no, nap first, shower later." Then I proceeded to face plant on the couch.

So, I've enjoyed not running for a few weeks. I started Jillian Michael's "Making the Cut" book; however, MC Hammer followed up with Kristi's birthday lead to a little "diet detour" if you will. If only drinking made you skinny....

But since I'm too legit...too legit to quit, ah ah...I'm still plugging along with my workouts and menus. I've lost approximately 5 lbs in two weeks. I'm so impatient though. That being said, I am not consumed with the number on the scale, but more how my body looks and feels. Speaking of looking, may I present to you Exhibit A:

USA, Hawaii, Maui, Lahaina, young woman sitting on surfboard in ocean

That's how I want to be....toned, athletic, oh! and don't forget tan. If only my abs would cooperate....

Maybe I'll just borrow his for awhile. Ya, you're welcome.

Double Vision

We are winding down to race day.....and my darling partner.....who I love dearly.....discovers that, not only is she pregnant.....but that she's expecting twins!

Boy (2-4) holding hands to face, shouting

I'm pretty sure Kendra and Trent both did one of these.

Couple in hot tub

"My mind is racing, but my body's in the lead." Perhaps these two were listening to a little Double Vision when the magic happened. It starts out so innocently...a few drinks, some music, and a little hot tub action....next thing you know...you've got four buns in the oven instead of two!

Elevated rear view of two babies (12-18 months) lying on a quilt

But-t (insert giggle) when you look at it from this angle, how could you not be excited? Sweet babies!

Well, I'm super excited! Now comes the hard part...waiting.

Are we there yet?!

Back to present day and my dilema, because it's really all about me. I mean this is my blog, right?

So, Kendra made the executive decision to sit out this race, with my complete and total blessing. Fortunately for me, our friend Maddie is flying in for the run as well, which means I won't be all alone. Katy is running the half, so she'll be with us the first 6 miles. And KK and Toni are also running the full; however, once the starting gun sounds, that will be all she wrote for our dynamically dashing duo.

Wish Kendra congratulations! And the rest of us luck and no injuries!

Have a great week everyone!

Runnin' With The Devil

For those of you who know the song, which EVERYONE should, queue the intro music inside your head. (Bom, bom, bom, bom) Love that drum beat! Now make your rocker face, pull out your air guitar, and bob your head.

"I live my life like there's no tomorrowwwwww...." (Bom, bom, bom, bom)

Can you feel me?!?! I think you can.

Hard Rock Life

So, Kendra and I are training for the Oklahoma City Memorial marathon in April; but only after much coaxing from our incredibly fit and fabulous friend Kristi Anderson Turner, a.k.a. KK. I won't tell you how many times I've asked myself why we are doing this.....and yet we're still running. Both of us are struggling with runner burnout, but thankfully we are only 4 weeks away from D day.

I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. It's a small light, but nevertheless a light. I'm just prayin' it ain't a freight train.

Oncoming locomotive

Well, as my grandmother would always say, "That which does not kill us, only makes us stronger."

Shirtless young man standing in front of surfboard, arms raised

Ok, I don't know who that is, but helloooooo handsome!

Check out those eyes....I mean abs....I mean eyes....hubba hubba!

Who wants to go surfing!?!?

Sorry, for the huge lag in postings! Life got busy.

Happy Hump Day Everyone!

Panama

I was driving home from work yesterday and Van Halen came on the radio. I'm referring to the real Van Halen with David Lee Roth. I don't really acknowledge the years with Sammy Hagar.

Chickenfoot Performs in Atlanta

I enjoyed Sammy as a solo artist, but felt that it just wasn't the same once good ol' Dave left the band. He's just got so much flare! Toe touches, seriously?! The man is incredible and 55 years old.

LA: The 11th Annual Race To Erase MS Gala

Anyway, I laughed to myself when I realize that while I'm very familiar with the song "Panama", and clearly know the title, I have gotten the lyrics wrong for years. Where the song sings, "Panama, Pana-ma-ah", I would sing "Had Enough! Had En-uh-ough!"

Well, this got me to thinking about other songs in which I misinterpreted the lyrics. Another good example is "Don't Bring Me Down" by Electric Light Orchestra.

Celebs In Los Angeles

What a great song! I wonder whatever happened to those guys. I specifically remember riding around, with my buddy's dad one day, when this song started playing on the radio. So, of course, I start to sing along, "Don't bring me doooowwwwnnnn, Woosh." And the next thing I know my friend's dad is berating me, "It says don't bring me down, BRUCE, you jackass!"

Walden and I are tight like that though, so it was more comical than insulting.

In summary: Today's musical moral is simply this, next time you're belting out Stairway to Heaven, and you're not sure if there is such a thing as a hedgerow; or if their singing sprinkling or spring clean, just go with it. It's the feeling that matters. And as Matthew McConaughey would say, Just keep livin'...L-I-V-I-N."

Who Put The Bomp?

"Who put the bomp
In the bomp bah bomp bah bomp?
Who put the ram
In the rama lama ding dong?
Who put the bop
In the bop shoo bop shoo bop?
Who put the dip
In the dip da dip da dip?
Who was that man?
I'd like to shake his hand
He made my baby
Fall in love with me!"

Jukebox

That was for all you Barry Mann and du-wop lovers out there. And if you're not...well then you should be.

It's just good, old fashioned, can't get that song outta my head, clean fun!

Oh, shut up! I love Timmy T., but c'mon, you gotta suck it up buttercup!

...anyway, the meltdowns happen a lot durning this season...especially with our loved ones, but I digress...so when you reach that pivotal moment...just turn to your spouse, mother, brother, or other brother, and sing...
